Mounting an Apple display: iMac, Studio Display, Pro Display XDR
Apple is the big exception: its displays and the iMac ship with no VESA holes. Mounting one on an arm means buying the VESA-adapter configuration — usually a decision you make at checkout, not after.
Studio Display
Sold in three fixed configurations: tilt stand, tilt-and-height stand, or a VESA mount adapter (100 × 100). Pick the VESA version if you'll use an arm — the stand versions aren't user-swappable. The VESA-adapter unit is what hangs on the arm (~5.4 kg).
24" iMac
A build-to-order option: "iMac with VESA Mount Adapter" (100 × 100), chosen instead of the stand at purchase. The whole all-in-one hangs on the arm (~4.4 kg).
Pro Display XDR
Ships bare; you add either the Pro Stand or the VESA Mount Adapter. Heavy for its size — confirm your arm's rating.

FAQ
Can I add a VESA mount to a Studio Display I already own?
Not by yourself — the stand versions have no VESA holes and the mount isn't a user-swappable part. Apple sells the VESA-adapter version as a separate configuration; buy that one if you want an arm.
What VESA size does the iMac VESA adapter use?
Apple's Built-in VESA Mount Adapter for the 24" iMac and Studio Display uses the 100 x 100 mm pattern. Confirm on Apple's configuration page for your exact model before buying an arm.
