49-inch super-ultrawide monitor arm (Odyssey G9 and friends)

The 49" super-ultrawide is where fit gets real. These panels run 9–15 kg — heavy enough that many arms sold as "heavy-duty" still fall short once you add a safety margin.

The number that matters

Take the panel weight (without stand) and multiply by 1.2. A 14.1 kg Samsung Odyssey G9 needs an arm rated ≥ 16.9 kg — beyond typical desk arms, which top out around 15 kg. OLED 49" panels are lighter (~9 kg) and easier. The checker does this math per model and flags the ones that need a specialised mount.

Also check

Deep desks and wide clamps: a big panel wants a solid, deep desktop and an arm with real reach. Confirm your desk can take the clamp.

FAQ

What weight arm do I need for a Samsung Odyssey G9?

The 49" VA Odyssey G9 is about 14.1 kg without the stand, so with a 1.2x safety margin you want an arm rated at least ~17 kg. That's beyond most desk arms — look for a specialised super-ultrawide/heavy mount.

Are OLED 49-inch monitors lighter?

Yes. The 49" OLED G9 is around 9.2 kg vs 14.1 kg for the VA model — same size, very different arm requirement. Always check your exact model.
